Things I will always do as an Aesthetic Nurse

Always choose a practitioner that makes you feel safe and comfortable.
Always choose a practitioner that makes you feel safe and comfortable.

There are plenty of aesthetic practitioners out there. When looking for the right one for you it can sometimes be overwhelming to know who to choose. This article provides a bit of insight into my standards as an aesthetic nurse to show what is important to a clinical professional delivering aesthetic treatments.

Draw

I will always draw my injection points, including muscle outlines and 'danger zones' to ensure that my injections are always accurate to hit the intended anatomy.

Complications with Botox only occur when the unintended muscle or area of muscle has been treated, this is why accuracy is crucial in all treatments.

Give Reassurance

Going through an aesthetic injection treatment can be daunting. I will always do my best to reassure all my patients, before, during and after treatments. This may include giving extra explanations, answering questions, being patient and even offering my clients a stress ball through the treatment to concentrate on. As a nurse, care and compassion are ingrained in my practice and I will always do my best to make my clients feel supported.

Keep it Clean

My nursing background is based in surgical theaters where aseptic technique and hygiene is paramount. These standards are carried over into my aesthetic treatments as well. This includes excellent hand hygiene, cleanliness in my environment, naked below the elbows and aseptic technique when injecting.

Listen

Listening is key in my profession to ensuring that the best results are achieved and the highest quality care is given. By listening to my client, I can understand their concerns and what they want to achieve. I can communicate with my clients and work with them to set realistic expectations and achieve desired results.

As a Registered Nurse I am governed by the NMC to maintain high standarda and care in my practice. Nursing is a vocation, which means that compassion is deeply-rooted in all areas of care I deliver with priorities in patient safety and individualized treatment.

It's important to choose an aesthetic practitioner that listens to what you want as the client and makes you feel safe and secure. Make sure to take care when choosing your practitioner and always feel comfortable in your treatments.

Take Care
